What For?
By Adelino L. Masigla

What for are these dark gloomy nights,
To one who search for guiding stars?
What for are these cold morning dews,
To bees that buzz on dessert grass?
What for are ocean blues that spans,
Should shores afar be out of sight?
What for are these feelings of love,
That dwells upon an empty heart?
1974, the author with spouse Pinky toured the orient for almost a
year while on board as ship captain. The extended voyages had
inspired the captain to write one of the following poem.
